Happy New Year! As the year comes to a close, we take time to reflect on what we have accomplished and what we'd like to do in the coming year.
This
year, the Shelter has seen hundreds of surrendered animals come and
then go as they become adoption animals. The BHS has helped with the
plight of horses on Harbour Island. Our inspectors have overseen the
surrey horses and have helped many animals in need. We have held
successful spay and neuter clinics on several Family Islands. Our
education team, including Sheba the education dog, have spoken to
students in many schools across New Providence, teaching children how to
humanely care for animals.
In the coming year, the BHS will continue to be involved in all
things animal. A spay and neuter clinic is being held in Eleuthera and
Exuma in January and Operation Potcake is planned for August. The
Shelter will continue to accept surrenders and will continue to adopt
out those who are adoptable.

This
New Year's Eve,
please be sure that your pets are secure as there will be fireworks!
Thank you to
CostRight for holding their coupon event in October. Your purchases there helped generate $1500 for the BHS.
Thank you, too, to
Nicola Roberts and her Grade One class at
Lyford Cay International School who got together and donated treats,
toys, food, and a crate to the Shelter as a part of their Christmas gift
giving. I do know the animals have been enjoying their treats!
Coming up early in the new year, we have the BHumane banner campaign
(Feb. 4th), Animal Fun Day (Feb 26th), the disco party (March 31st) and
raffle (drawn on March 31st) . Please continue to come out and support
these events and the BHS.
If you're not already a member, why not consider making a BHS membership a part of your New Year's resolutions?
All the best for 2012! Happy New Year!
