A photo from last year's wonderful event, all for a great cause!

Nassau, Bahamas - The range of colours of the topaz gemstone is limitless and diverse, from clear white to mystic blue. If there were an explosion of the many shades of topaz, you would see the rainbow: white, yellow, orange, blue, pink, brown, green and many more shades of topaz. Explosions don’t just happen. There is always a reason for an explosion, be it natural or other. On November 18, 2012, there will be an explosion of topaz for a most worthy cause.

Under the theme, “ Explosion of Topaz”, the 2012 / 2013 Heart Ball Committee will jumpstart their fundraising activities and host their 7th Annual Tea Party & Fashion, in aid of The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation. It is anticipated that this event will be fun filled and packed with fashion, food, entertainment and excitement. This year, there will be more for the guests absorb, as they get ready for the holiday and holiday trends. The Fashion Show and Tea party will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm on the balcony, upper level of The Government House. Tantalizing and aromatic teas will be provided by Beth’s Kitchen, Island Passion Tea Ltd and Twining Tea. Beth’s Kitchen will provide native bush teas and treats that are often remembered from days gone by. There will also be an assortment treats. There will be a Pre- Tea Art Exhibit from 2:00 pm until 2:30 pm featuring art work by Rick Carey and jewelry by Nadia Campbell.

Highlights of the afternoon includes: a fashion show, a hat parade competition, an in-house raffle, a special trivia, prizes, more prizes and surprises. Fashionable pieces will be modeled by Heart Ball Committee (HBC) members, past patients and friends of The Heart Foundation. Past, present and fashion forward pieces will be displayed in all categories.  These pieces will be complemented by jewelry from the winter/spring collection of Nadia Campbell’s Jewelry. Persons wishing to participate in the hat parade are encouraged to come in their lovely hats and wow the crowd. That’s really the only way to win and take home a wonderful prize. Top prizes for the afternoon include round trip ticket for two on Bahamasair, paintings, a gift certificate for chiropractic services, six months of personal training, dinner for 2 at Aqua Restaurant, BIFF film pass, a necklace set by Nadia Campbell, and gift certificates to Nicole’s Hair & Beauty supplies. The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation is a non-profit organization, established over 50 years ago by Lady Evelyn Sassoon. The Heart Foundation aims to help to repair the hearts of children in The Bahamas, whose parents or guardians can not ordinarily afford heart care. Heart care is not cheap and can vary depending on what is wrong with the child’s heart, upon diagnosis. One surgery can cost over $50,000. Thanks to the support of The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation many persons, both children and adults, have obtained heart repair and are now living healthy and productive lives.  However, this success could not be attained without the generous support of the public.

The Heart Ball Committee is the fund raising arm of The Heart Foundation. Each year, The Heart Ball Committee hosts two major fundraising events: The Heart Ball and The Annual Tea Party / Fashion Show. These events generate funds that aid in the repair of children’s heart. Next year’s Annual Heart Ball is scheduled for February 16, 2013.

Being a non-profit organization, The Foundation relies heavily on the generosity of others to meet their goals. You are encouraged to give your support to fundraising events, including sponsored events and make a difference in the life of a child.
