The 53rd Annual Heart Ball takes place on Saturday, February 11 at the Meliả Nassau Beach Hotel. The Ball, designed to aid the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation, has a 7 pm start time and has been an outstanding staple in society’s charity events since 1964.

The Sir Victor Sassoon Foundation is one of the most respected charitable organizations in The Bahamas. It is a privately supported entity that raises funds through donations and from the proceeds of the Annual Heart Ball. The Foundation donates over 97% of each dollar raised directly to the aid of children with heart issues.

The Bahamas Heart Association is the education arm of the Foundation which has as its focus, healthy heart lifestyles. The Heart Association, through its many efforts, tries to let every Bahamian know the importance of heart health.

“We look forward to another successful Heart Ball this year”, noted R.E. Barnes, Chairman, Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation. “The Foundation depends on the support of the Heart Ball’s patrons to help children to defray the costs of life-saving heart surgeries. We have been in this, successfully, for just shy of fifty-three years and have the Bahamian public to thank. We ask our patrons, old and new, to come out and experience a night full of entertainment, all the while knowing it is for a worthy cause.”

The Foundation was founded in 1961 by Lady Sassoon following the death of her husband, Sir Victor Sassoon, Bart GBE. It was founded to assist Bahamians with Heart Disease.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Ed Brice Orchestra, the Soulful Groovers, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Dance Band and DJ Gary “Super” Johnson.

The Annual Heart Ball, as per norm, falls in the center of Heart Month which is February of each year. Activities for Heart Month are as follows:

· Saturday, Feb 4 – 10 am – 2 pm - CPR public awareness training at University of the Bahama. Registration is free.

· Thursday, Feb 16 – 10 am – 4 pm - Annual Health Fair - J-Line Courtyard on East Shirley St.
