Nassau, Bahamas - On March 7th, a fundraiser is being held by the Lend a Hand Bahamas Foundation, which was recently created to plan, develop, and manage community centres where needed in the Bahamas.

Currently, the first centre is close to the construction phase in the Grant’s Town area of Nassau, but some additional funds need to be raised before construction can begin. The centre will run off of renewable energy, provide more opportunities/ activities for children and adults, and serve as a safe haven during hurricanes. In addition, the centre will have a strong focus on entrepreneurial development and environmental science.

The event on March 7th will feature a basketball tournament for youth from across the island, distinguished guest speakers, some good food, and construction of a sports equipment shed in the community. The funds raised will go towards the community centre project underway in the community.

For more info about the community centre project you can go to: www.lendahandbahamas.org.
