NASSAU, Bahamas — In response to the devastation in the Southern Bahamas from Hurricane Joaquin, Lyford Cay Foundation, Inc. has pledged up to $100,000 to the relief efforts.

As it has done in the past with similar disasters that have affected The Bahamas, the Foundation will provide both short term emergency relief to assist with the wide-spread damage and immediate needs of those affected, as well as broader, long-term assistance.

Aligned with its mission to support learning opportunities for Bahamians, the Foundation will utilize its grants program in the months to come to assist with rebuilding the lives of children in the affected areas, their education and the normalisation of schools. The Foundation’s goal with these grants is to help ensure that children throughout the country will be able to continue their education during this rebuilding period.

“At the Foundation we appreciate that recovery from the effects of Hurricane Joaquin will be a complex, ongoing process. However, by coming together as a caring community, we will work to assist those in need,” said Basil P. Goulandris, Chairman of Lyford Cay Foundation.
