Dr Peter Marra, one of the world’s top experts on migratory birds, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Bahamas Natural History Conference, organised by The Bahamas National Trust. Marra heads the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Centre in Washington DC and has authored over 180 peer-reviewed papers published by leading scientific journals.

His primary interest is in understanding the factors that control bird populations. He is also pursuing technological solutions to track animals (from dragonflies to bats) throughout their lifetimes. The conference takes place March 15-17 at the College of The Bahamas in Oakes Field.

Over 80 talks by both Bahamian and international researchers are being presented, and there will be several field trips to family island national parks. Registration is $50 per day or $100 for the entire conference. BNT members pay only $10 to attend the entire conference, and COB faculty and students may register for free.
