Nassau, Bahamas - The BHumane Banner Campaign and raffle are now under way!

Saturday, February 4th is the BHumane Banner Launch Party at Government House.  Tickets are $65.00 and are available at the BHS Shelter and from Board members.  Last year's event was very successful and this year's is sure to be as well.  Come and join us for an evening of fabulous food, great music and good company.  Banners will be on display before being hung the following week along the streets of New Providence.  Thank you to those who purchased their banners this year!  You will be able to keep the banner once they come down.  Thank you also to Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch for sponsoring the BHumane campaign.

Raffle tickets
are now available, both at the Shelter and from BHS members and Board members who will be selling as well.  Tickets are $20.00 or $100.00 for six.  The more tickets you purchase, the greater your chances of winning.  Please help those who cannot help themselves.

We are looking for
volunteers to help sell raffle tickets outside the ScotiaBank at Bay and Parliament.  We will have a table there through the month of February and are looking for people to be at the table to sell tickets.  Table days are Monday, Thursday, and Friday with shifts from 9:30 - 11:30, 11:30 - 1:30, and 1:30 - 3:00.  If you are able to help out, please contact Stephen Turnquest (bhscruelty@gmail.com, 323-5138) or me.  There may also be tables at other venues.  We'll let you know once those have been decided.

The raffle prizes will be drawn at Disco Night on March 31st.  Start planning your outfits now and be sure to join us at the Sheraton Cable Beach to see if you are a winner!

Those of you on Facebook will have seen that we've held very successful spay and neuter clinics in Exuma and Eleuthera   38 animals were fixed in Exuma, and over 50 in one day in Eleuthera with vets staying till 9 p.m. to complete everyone.  Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers who make these clinics a success.

The Animal Fun Day is also quickly approaching.  Be sure to set aside Sunday, February 26th to bring your pet (and yourself) to the Botanical Gardens from noon to 6:00 for a fun-filled afternoon of events!  Volunteers are also needed to help run games tables, sell raffle tickets, and more.  Please contact me if you are able to volunteer at the Fun Day.

Did you know?
Thirty years ago, Betty Kenning enlisted the services of a young lady to keep scrapbooks for the BHS.  For thirty years, Kirstie Smollett has been scouring the local newspapers, clipping any articles related to the BHS, the Humane Society of Grand Bahama, and any other animal-related event.  The scrapbooks she has already created for us are at the Shelter should you ever wish to take a peek!  However, after thirty years, Kirstie has decided to retire and pass her scissors to another volunteer.  Are you that person?  Do you read papers regularly?  Would you be willing to take over for her?  You don't have to commit for thirty years; any period of time would be greatly appreciated!  If you are eager to take over the scissors, please contact Kim Aranha (berryislandgirl@gmail.com).  Thank you, Kirstie, for your dedicated work.

Have a great weekend!
