Nassau,  Bahamas - Representatives of the District Grand Lodge of The Bahamas (Scottish Constitution) recently held a joint press conference with the College of The Bahamas at Tyreflex Star Motors to announce two new fundraising initiatives that will benefit the College over the next few years. Speaking on behalf of the nine daughter Lodges of the DGL, Right Worshipful District Grand Master Charles Johnson announced the District's pledge of a $100,000 endowment fund contribution to the College of The Bahamas over the next four years via an annual national raffle and gala ball.

Mr. Johnson was pleased to note that Tyreflex Star Motors had agreed to partner with the DGL as a co-sponsor of this year's raffle prize: a 2012 Mercedes Benz C180. Mr. Courtney Strachan, Chairman of the District Grand Lodge Fundraising Committee, confirmed the availability of raffle tickets until the grand prize drawing on March 10 th at the District Grand Lodge Gala Ball at the Wyndham Cable Beach Resort. Mr. Strachan noted that the Gala Ball would not only serve as the culmination of the DGL's 2012 National Raffle campaign but would also serve to introduce the Bahamian public to an event that is expected to become a cornerstone of the Bahamian social calendar. Promising a sophisticated fine dining experience accentuated by top-class entertainment and a feast for all the senses, Mr. Strachan observed a reward for each patron far beyond the various prizes that will be featured during this year's Gala Ball: the reward of helping to continue the magnificent legacy of the nation's premier institution of higher learning.

President of the College of The Bahamas, Dr. Betsy Vogel Boze, thanked the District Grand Lodge of the Bahamas (SC) for its decision to assist the College by way of such initiatives. Dr. Boze noted that such efforts demonstrate the continued commitment by the fraternal body toward the success of COB students, as the College already benefits from scholarships offered by Lodge St. Michael 1634 S.C. and Lodge St. David 1741 S.C. – both daugther Lodges of the District Grand Lodge of The Bahamas (SC).

Speaking on behalf of Tyreflex Star Motors Managing Director Patrick Knowles, Ms. Dellareese Edgecombe stated that Tyreflex Star Motors was excited to be a part of this year's DGL National Raffle, especially considering the District's various programmes focused on the mentorship of young men via its daughter lodges.

Tickets for this year's National Raffle may be obtained via a $50 endowment fund contribution from the following ticket sales locations: Andeaus Insurance (Trinity Plaza, West Bay St. & St. Alban's Drive); West Bay Pharmacy (Hoffer Plaza, Cable Beach); and Quality Food Store (Galleria Plaza, JFK Drive).
