Nassau, Bahamas — AML Foods Ltd. officials say the first phase of its Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) initiative could reduce local plastic bag use by two million bags in one year. After successfully distributing 10,000 free reusable shopping bags on Earth Day, the company is now setting its sights on next year’s goals.

Step one of the BYOB program is a part of the company’s goal of distributing 125,000 eco-friendly bags throughout the country by the end of 2017.  Last month, volunteers distributed the bags at AML store locations in New Providence and Grand Bahama...

Nassau, Bahamas - It took months of planning and some creative fundraising for the Solomon’s Fresh Market Kids Who Care Club and The Community School to feed 40 meals to 40 families in the Bain & Grants Town community. Efforts included a well-planned flash mob at the retail outlet back in November where the kids entertained customers while collecting funds to complete their mission.

Just days before Christmas, 25 kids and 10 adult volunteers formed an assembly line at St. Agnes Anglican Church’s hall room to pack, organize and distribute 40 hot meals to families in need. The idea originated from The Community School and the kids club teamed up with them to successfully execute the donation...
