The Star Sailors League (SSL) will hold its Grand Finals for the 3rd consecutive year off the Nassau Yacht Club between Wednesday December 2nd and Saturday December 5th. In between races, film coverage of the November 28th/29th Mayagauna Mini Regatta will also be shown on the live fee.

The SSL film crew will take to the seas of Montegu Beach to film, close up, the Mayagauna Mini Regatta on November 29th The Regatta will be seen world-wide in between the SSL live stream races. They will also conduct interviews with local crews and boat builders. In addition, on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. December 1st, Sloop sailors will crew with 16 Star Sailors, in a Sloop Race off Montegu Beach. The SSL Olympic and World Champion sailors will team up with the Sloop crews fresh off the weekend’s Mayaguana Mini Regatta. Reverend Philip McPhee, Regatta Consultant to the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Local Government, said at a Press Briefing on Friday, that he believed this was the first time that a Regatta was filmed for a live feed to the world.

“This will be an opportunity for exposure for sloop sailing at its highest level. Never before in the history of our country were we able to get this kind of exposure worldwide. The entire world will see the unique, skilful, and artistic quality of our brand of sailing and our Bahamian-made sloops.

Our boats are different from any others in the world, built, rigged and sailed by Bahamians. It is a history-making occasion.”

Winners Trophies will be exchanged during the Closing Ceremonies of the Star Sailors League Grand Finals at the NYC on December 5th when the Minister with responsibility for Regattas, the Hon. V Alfred Gray, MP, is a guest and invited to bring remarks.
