Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas --- The Abaco Beach Resort at Boat Harbour proudly announces the launch of one of the only all-release billfish tournaments in the Bahamas.

The inaugural All-Release Boat Harbour Billfish Challenge will commence on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 and conclude on Saturday, April 17.  The tournament format will be dedicated to billfish conservation as well as providing a top notch, first-class all-release fishing tournament venue and the schedule will focus on the Bahamian traditions of Abaco Beach Resort at Boat Harbour.  For example, the Kick-Off Dinner will feature a beach bonfire, the Talent Showcase Dinner will present the soulful and artistic sounds of the entire staff, and Friday’s Rake ‘N’ Scrape pool party will offer a joyful celebration of the local native music.

Laurie Bass has been named Tournament Director for the Billfish Challenge and she has a long-standing and successful reputation with events at Abaco Beach Resort at Boat Harbour.  “I’m thrilled to be a part of this new event, especially with the focus on conservation,” states Bass.  “We’ve made sure the entry fee covers the evening events for a total of four guests with two of those guests being a captain and a mate as their participation is vital to the overall success of any tournament.”

Scoring will be as follows:  600 points for a white or blue marlin and 250 points for a sailfish.  All releases must be verified by digital photograph or video.  In addition to points earned from releases, one daily bonus of 600 points will be awarded to the team weighing in the largest fun fish (tuna, dolphin, wahoo, or kingfish) over the 25 lb. limit.

Guaranteed cash prizes will be presented to the three top overall teams and some proceeds from the event will benefit the Marsh Harbour Volunteer Fire Department.

Entry packets will be mailed out after January 1, 2010.  Contact Laurie Bass at (954) 868-8022 or e-mail LaurieB72@gmail.com for more information.

The new family activities at Abaco Beach Resort at Boat Harbour includes the unique “Bahama Buddies” program where local children teach visiting children the art of fishing and fish cleaning, conch crackin’ and island arts and crafts.
