Nassau, Bahamas - Adrian Griffith is a happy camper right now, becoming 100m Champion at the BTC Senior National Track & Field Championships at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. "I felt pretty good - ya know. Everything I've been working on, from my drive phase, to gettin' up outta the blocks, to workin my my speed, and learnin' how to sprint... Now... I know how to sprint," said Griffith after his victory.

During a radio interview before the Bahamas Senior Track & Field Nationals, Griffith said that competing in the 100m... "initially - it was an experiment."

It's more common for athletes who aren't particularly strong in the individual sprinting events to transition to either a field event, a relay team or become a decathalete. However, Griffith is one of few who has done the reverse, and transitioned from being a decathlete into a world-class sprinter.

Griffith took the spotlight in the men's 100m in 10.23 seconds, but don't 'suck-ya-teeth' at the rest of the field. At the age of 25, Griffith was the only senior athlete in the final of the men's 100m at the BTC sponsored National Track & Field Championships.

Finishing 2nd was Jamial Rolle, who met the NACAC Under 23 standard with a time of 10.... See More42 seconds. 3rd was Michael Tino Sands in 10.52 seconds, which was a World Junior Championship qualifying time. Former high school 100m champ Warren Fraser also met the WJC standard clocking 10.52, but had to settle for fourth place.

In fact, the entire field that competed in the Men's 100m final at the Bahamas Track & Field Nationals made an international qualifying standard. Jamal Forbes placed 5th in 10.53 seconds, and was matched by Brunell McKenzie who had to settle for 6th, with Carifta Champ 15-year-old Geno Jones placing 7th in a time of 10.57 seconds.

With the right coaching and guidance this grouping of young male sprinters could realistically be the first to capture Olympic gold medals in both the individual 100m and the 4x100m relay for The Bahamas
