FREEPORT, Bahamas – In the arena of youth, sports and development no institution shines quite like the Tabernacle Christian Academy. Having developed a reputation for churning out some of the best and brightest basketball stars the island of Grand Bahama has ever produced.

Tabernacle Academy has maintained their commitment to their students through sports development, through programs which also provide discipline, respect and a safe family community for many young boys and girls. Because of this commitment to youth and sports development, BTC jumped at the chance to partner with Tabernacle for its annual Thanksgiving Basketball Classic as it has done for the past 5 years.

“BTC is passionate about Bahamian Athletes and we have demonstrated that passion through our support of our Golden Knights, The Golden Girls and all of our Olympic and CARIFTA athletes at the National level” said Northern VP of BTC Eldri Ferguson-Mackey. “It was equally important to me that we give the same level of support to our up and coming local athletes as well, which is why this collaboration with Tabernacle is such a great fit”.

As part of its sponsorship BTC is providing mobile devices to phonecards for giveaways during half time entertainment, access to a BTC Pop-Up Shop, as well as free Wi-Fi so that all the great moments can be captured in real time and posted at no cost.

“We live in a very social media driven world and it has become so important to our customers that they’re able to share their lives in real time” noted Ferguson-Mackey. “We encourage participants and spectators alike to take advantage of the Wi-Fi and share moments from this year’s tournament using the #BTCHotSpot and #MyBTC which would not only give those customers entry into our raffle for a chance to win a free gift, but it would also allow us to share those moments via our own social media platforms.”

This year’s Thanksgiving Tournament will kick off on November 22nd-25th at the St. George’s Gymnasium and will feature talented teams from four of the island’s major high schools including; Jack Hayward High, Sunland Academy, St. Georges and of course Tabernacle Academy. The local teams will face off against players can we say where in the USA of the United States including; Pine Forest Academy, Christian Academy Dobyns Bennett, and Seymour High; making for an exciting 4 days of competition.
