The Bahamas Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation’s Annual Northern Bahamas Bodybuilding and Fitness Show will take place this Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Regency Theatre starting at 7pm. Prejudging starts at 9:30am.
A competitors motorcade is set for Friday, July 22nd leading to the Port Lucaya Marketplace where a public weigh-in will take place from 6 - 9pm.
“We would like to thank the Grand Bahama Port Authority, the Pelican Bay Hotel, BTC, the Port Lucaya Marketplace, Frecon, Palacious Bus and Tours, Bahamian Brewery, The Compound and Nesbitt’s Fitness for their kind support in helping to make this event possible for our athletes," BBFF president Joel Stubbs.
“This is the first year that the Northern Bahamas Show will be used as a pre-qualifier leading up to The Bahamas Nationals, which will be held on August 27, in Nassau, at the Melia Ball Room.
“We expect the Freeport show to be a smashing event. The fans can expect to see the best athletes from around the islands compete against the best in Grand Bahama.”
The show will help the BBFF form their 2017 CAC Championships team.
"The main objective is to prepare the athletes for the next level and to ensure a successful defense of their Caribbean/Central America title," said the Federation's release.
“Our Federation’s main objective is to prepare our current athletes for the next level. We are the defending champions in the Caribbean/Central American region and we plan to retain that spot. We plan to take health and wellness awareness into the high schools which would allow and equip young aspiring athletes upon completion of high school to be eligible to compete in the CAC. “They would then have a better opportunity of receiving a pro card and have longevity in the sport of Bodybuilding. Many athletes get in the game late so by the time they receive their pro card it’s at that age where persons on the international level are normally considering retirement."
Tickets for the Northern Bahamas Show are $35 at the door, or $30 in advance, anc can be purchased from the Olympic Heights Gym in the Circle Mall, Freeport.
