BIS Director General Congratulates Linda Woodside-Major on Her Induction into Sports Hall of Fame

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Director General of Bahamas Information Services (BIS) Mr. Luther Smith shares a proud moment and congratulates BIS Human Resources Manager, Mrs. Linda Woodside-Major on her induction into the National Sports Hall of Fame that took place recently.  Mrs. Woodside-Major was one of 15 sports heroes of The Bahamas who were inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2015 by Governor General Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling at Government House, November 19, in special ceremonies sponsored by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture during ‘Sports Heritage Month.’  Mrs. Woodside-Major has represented The Bahamas with distinction in track and field in three CARIFTA Games, earning silver medals in 1975 for high jump and long jump; and in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships, the bronze for 200-metre hurdles, and placing fourth in the pentathlon. She was named Bahamas 1975 ‘Athlete of the Year.’  In the photo, she holds the framed citation from the Governor General, signifying her induction into the National Sports Hall of Fame.  (BIS Photo/Patrick Hanna)
