Bahamas Beach Soccer National Squad Faces Lazio Beach Soccer Club - July 22, 2016 Viareggio, Italy -Team Bahamas anticipated a tough match against Italian club team Lazio Beach Soccer, but that didn’t stop them from putting their best foot forward. The team played a disciplined match, incorporating new strategies introduced to the team by coach Angelo Schirinzi. Ultimately though, the skill and experience of Lazio would guide them to victory and even four goal performance from Lesly St. Fleur wasn’t enough to beat the European competition. Despite the loss against the high ranked team, Schirinzi was happy with the result, insisting that he saw “good things” from the team. Bahamas captain Gavin Christie scored the team’s fifth goal, to go along with St. Fleur’s 4 goal performance. The Bahamian side will face another tough match on Saturday afternoon, as they take on the European champion and home side, Viareggio Beach Soccer.
Bahamas Beach Soccer Squad with Another Impressive Showing versus Top European Competition - July 23, 2016 A day after taking on top Italian side Lazio Beach Soccer, The Bahamas Beach Soccer Select squad faced off against European Champions Viareggio Beach Soccer. The game was hotly contested, with the Bahamian team looking to pull off an upset, and the local side eager to please their supporters. Team Bahamas was the first to get on the scoreboard, with a goal from team captain Gavin Christie- his second in two games. The team from Italy would strike back to level the score, but the Rake and Scrape Boyz would go up again thanks to a goal from Kyle Williams.
Over the next 2 periods Viareggio would show their quality, pulling ahead 5 goals to 2. Team Bahamas would not be discouraged though. They shut out the Italian side in the third period, and added another goal to their tally thanks to a header from Timothy Munnings Jr. The game would end in favour of the home side, 5 goals to 3. Team coach Angelo Schirinzi commended Team Bahamas for their performance, saying it was the best he has seen them play. The Bahamian squad will look to build on their improved form, as they travel to take on a strong Pisa side, on Sunday afternoon.
