Bahamas Fed Cup team battles it out against Dominican Republic

BAHAMAS FED CUP TEAM BATTLES IT OUT AGAINST DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Our 4-member Fed Cup Team of Iesha Shepherd, Gabriela Donaldson, Sierra Donaldson, and Lauryn Daxon had a very close and competitive matchup against the Dominican Republic today. Coming off a loss against Guatemala yesterday the Team got off to a great start today with a singles win. Iesha Shepherd had a resounding win against Rodriguez 6-1 6-1. Gabriela played well and the match went to three sets 6-2,1-6,6-2but Gabriela was defeated by Martinez of Dominican Republican.With the team score tied 1-1 the overall win would be determined by the doubles outcome. The first set went to a tie break where the Dominicans came out victors 7-6(9) in the first set and 6-2 in the second set.

This was however a very good showing for our young and upcoming tennis athletes who are representing The Bahamas well. Matchplay continues Tuesday against the home team Puerto Rico.The team is captained by Mr. Ricardo Demeritte.

PHILIP MAJOR WITH A CHANCE TO ADVANCE TO THE SECOND ROUND MAIN DRAW

In other tennis news, tomorrow morning Main Draw Matchplay continues for Philip Major as he has secured his ticket into the Main Draw pool of 32 . He plays Seong Chan Hong from Korea in the fist Round. This is Philip's second appearance within two weeks into the MainDraw of a Pro Circuit F5 Futures.He is playing stellar tennis and will have to continue in order to make it into the second round of the Main Draw.  This tournament is being held in Antalya Turkey.
