The popular New Providence Flag Football League received support from Coca-Cola for the 2015 season

New Providence, Bahamas - Night leagues are nothing new to the Bahamas, with Bahamian athletes competing in every team sport from Volleyball, to legacy leagues like Rugby. While this ever growing Bahamian sports culture offers a great variety for Bahamians to participate in, it does however become more difficult to find corporate sponsorship to off-set some of the costs. New leagues, without Olympic or local legacy counterparts such as the Bahamas Flag Football League (BFFL) faced just that, however with some twenty teams, roughly 620 players, competing this year it is fair to say both their momentum and popularity are growing. For the past three years Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC), local producer of Coca-Cola, has sponsored a male team, Coca-Cola Hitman, and this year further increased their commitment to the league by becoming a league sponsor with a $5,000 donation.

“The BFFL has gained much from our partnership with CBC. It has allowed a more all-inclusive and high quality event experience to our players and fans and ensured a consistent product during our 2015 season” says Jayson Clarke, President of BFFL. “Additionally, their support has assisted in the overall development of Football in the Bahamas. We are hopeful that this sponsorship is renewed with CBC for an extended term in order to maintain this high level of quality.”

“CBC has an ever growing focus and commitment to the communities that we serve, and that most certainly includes our local sporting community,” Cara Douglas Marketing Manager for CBC explains. “While we support large scale events such as the IAAF World Relays, Ride For Hope, and Marathon Bahamas, we ensure that our presence is also felt on the local sporting scenes. You would have most recently seen us supporting Defend Ya Spike Volleyball Tournament, National Cycling Championship, and countless summer youth basketball leagues/camps/tournaments. We are committed to supporting local development through sporting activities.”

“CBC has been the team sponsor for The Hitmen since the 2013 Bahamas Flag Football League Season. As the league has grown and the financial requirements for participation have changed, CBC has remained flexible and supportive” explains team captain Daniel Belton. “All past team members, along with the thirty four that currently represent the team this season, are thankful for Mr. Wells and CBC for their continued backing. Not only have they been an integral part of our team’s history, but their involvement and representation in league activities this year show the commitment CBC has to the local sporting community.”

In addition to support both the BFFL with a cash donation, and one of the teams in the league, CBC has also sent a team to games to show support, and engage the crowd. This Sunday at the league’s Championship Game will be the same, so make sure you visit the Coca-Cola tent.
