It was a thrilling 4 X 400 m relay race in Rio as The Bahamas maintained a lead for most of the event, and slipped back to third in the final leg. Their time of 2:59.64 was a season's best for the team.

Great Britain was disqualified moving The Bahamas up to second place in that heat.

The women's 4 x 400 relay team did not advance to the finals, finishing sixth place with a time of 3:26.36, setting a national record.
