Nassau, New Providence - Two Bahamas Olympic Committee executives were honored at the College of The Bahamas’ inaugural Flamingo Ball on June 14, with one of them also being inducted into the college’s Alumni Hall of Fame.

BOC President Wellington Miller said the honors, which were in celebration of the 40thanniversary of COB, demonstrated how sports were “not only building people’s bodies in The Bahamas, but they are also helping to build minds and valuable institutions.” He congratulated BOC vice president Iram Lewis and assist treasurer Clarence Rolle on being recognized among COB’s 40 Outstanding Graduates. Lewis also was one of seven individuals who were inducted into the Hall of Fame at the ball.

“This just shows that sports has a lot to offer our country. We are using the various disciplines as development tools. Our sports organizations are not only producing athletes. They are producing responsible citizens who are moving the country forward. We are especially proud of what Iram Lewis and Clarence Rolle have accomplished, and we believe the best is yet to come.”

Lewis will lead The Bahamas’ Junior Olympic Team to Nanjing, China in August. Rolle will help supervise the national team at the Senior Pan American Games in 2015 as deputy chef de mission.
