The Bahamas – Her Excellency Governor General Dame Marguerite Pindling hosted
the Bahamas Softball Federation Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Government
House
Wednesday evening, March 25, sponsored by the Ministry of Youth, Sports
and Culture. Stellar Bahamian softball
icons Romell Knowles and Oria Wood-Knowles were honoured by President of the International
Softball Federation, Dale McMann, as International Softball Federation Inductees.
Romell
Knowles was the first Bahamian to be elected as Vice-President of the
International Softball Federation (ISF) and sat on several important ISF
Commissions. Known for his
administrative abilities, he is also the Founding Member of the English
Caribbean Associations of Softball Confederations – and was elected secretary
general of the Bahamas Olympic Committee in 2008 and again in 2012.

Oria
Wood-Knowles is known as ‘the best batter The Bahamas has ever produced.’ In her 34-year softball career, she has
participated in many C.A.C. Games, Pan American Games and World Championships.
Minister
of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson, and President of the
Bahamas Olympic Committee Wellington Miller were present at the ceremony to
congratulate the inductees.
