Bahamas Swim Team Comes Away Victorious at Carifta Games

Joanna Evans breaks two records

It was an exciting and successful competition for The Bahamas swimming team as they finished in the lead spot for team points at the 44th annual Carifta swimming championships held at the Barbados Aquatics Center from April 4-8th. As for medals The Bahamas collected 54 in total with an outstanding 29 gold, 17 silver, and 8 bronze, coming second to Barbados with Trinidad and Tobago third in medals. See all medal counts here.

Setting a new age group (15-17) record and senior national record in the 400m for The Bahamas, Joanna Evans came out on top with 4:59.25. She another record in the 200m with 2:03.00. She gathered 10 gold medals and 4 silver at the event. Evans has automatically qualified for the Pan Am Games.

Evans made up for 77 of The Bahamas overall 756.5 team points. Barbados came second with team points of 642.50; and third was Trinidad and Tobago with 494.50. All team points here.
