Bahamas defeats Curacao 3-0 in first match at CONCACAF Girls’ Under-15 Championship in Cayman

CAYMAN ISLANDS - The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) is holding its inaugural CONCACAF Girls’ Under-15 Championship, in Cayman Islands from August 6-17, 2014, and team Bahamas has won their first match against Curacao with a 3 - 0 win on August 6th.

Jaleah Taylor, Meaghan Smith and Marisa Vietti all scored a goal a piece for The Bahama. Marissa Vietti was named Player of the Game. All the fore mentioned girls are from Grand Bahama Island.
Captain of the team Hanna Joy Simms, and Co Captain is Marisa Vietti.

16 national teams are attending, and were placed into four groups of four and are participating in round-robin play over the competition’s first six match days.  The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals, which will take place on Wednesday, August 13.  The semifinals will be played two days later, with the winners competing in the Final and the losers contesting the match for third place on Sunday, August 17.

Tournament matches will be held at four venues: three in Grand Cayman (Truman Bodden Sports Complex, T.E McField Sports Complex, Ed Bush Sports Complex). Additionally, for the first time in CONCACAF competition, group matches will be contested in Cayman Brac, one of the three islands that make up the Cayman Islands.
