PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - Team Bahamas ended their participation in the CFU Women's U-17 Competition with a 9-0 victory over the British Virgin Islands on November 6th at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince. The Bahamas got off to an early start, with a goal in the 6th minute by Anissa Albury. This was followed by two more, one from Mia Whylly (19th minute) and one from Shelby Carbin-Green (26th minute) to round out the scoring for the first half and take the Bahamas into the locker room with a 3-0 lead.

Despite the three goals, the Bahamian girls threw away countless other opportunities against their opponents, and ought to have been further ahead.

The second half, however, saw the Bahamian Girls roar to life, and gave a display to remember. Six second half goals, starting from the 55th minute allowed the team to end the match 9-0 victors and end their participation in the competition in style. Shannon Hutton got the ball rolling in the 55th minute with the first goal of the half. Once this happened the flood gates opened, and goals from Felicia Taylor (75th minute), Destinee Mitchell (77th minute), Paige Armbrister (85th minute), Lauren Haven (86th minute) and Holly Sands (90th minute) provided the young girls with a remarkable performance, and their supporters back home with something to be proud about.

The result allows the team to finish third in the group and effectively ends their participation in the Qualifiers, but it does show the players that the possibilities exist. The team returned home on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
