Bahamas ready to cover IAAF / BTC World Relays

Nassau, Bahamas - Technology at all sites throughout New Providence is ready as hundreds of international journalist make their way to The Bahamas to cover the upcoming International Association of Athletics Federation's (IAAF) /BTC World Relays Bahamas 2015.

"We are all systems go!" said Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Technology Deputy Director, Trevor Moss. "The event is a technology driven event and we want to ensure a seamless experience for everyone involved over the two days of competition."

Adding that the infrastructure has been beefed up, Moss said all providers are in place, and all components of technology will be up and running by Friday.

"Not only are we responsible to provide services at the stadium, we have to provide services around the stadium, the warm-up track, the track itself, the swim complex, Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium, hotels and the airport," he said.

LOC Senior Director of Event Media Services, Tonique Williams said some 107 written press and photographers have been approved to cover the event with the first set of international media arriving in the country today.

"Of this number we have 87 international media representing some 36 agencies. 27 are local agencies representing some ten (10) agencies," Williams said. "International journalist represent 12 countries. These countries include America with 16 agencies, Jamaica with three (3), Belgium with three (3)

With last years' experience now under their belt, LOC Deputy Director of Event Media Services, Stefan Thies said the main media center and press center is ready and equipped with the needed technology to ensure that the information, photos, and videos are reached around the world instantly.

"I am extremely happy that we will have reliable and professional technology for the media because the media relies on technology heavily to help promote the event," he said.

The IAAF/BTC World Relays Bahamas 2015 will take place on May 2nd & May 3rd at The Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. The world's top elite athletes will be in action in front of an estimated 30,000 spectators.
