Game Summary

Dorian started the game with two strikeouts and 3 walks against Venezuela. It was a big moment early in the game. Finial out in the 1st flied out to Chavez Young in Left Field. After pitching his way out of a rocky 1st inning, Dorian settled down and never looked back as he throw a 2 hit shut-out of Venezuela.

· Team Bahamas offensive attack started in the 1st inning - Quinton Rolle doubled to score the first run. Team Bahamas remained aggressive with a double steal - score two more runs on costly errors by Venezuela – Team Bahamas 4 - 0 after the 1st inning.

· The offensive attack continued - Chavez Young RBI Triple down the right field line - Fielder choice scored Chavez - Team Bahamas 6-0.

·  Quinton Rolle continued his torrid hitting with a lead-off double – RBI Single by Justin Sweeting scored Rolle.  Chavez Young added an RBI single to score Kyle Simmons – Team Bahamas 8-0 after the 3inning.

· Team Bahamas completed the victory by the 10 run mercy rule - walk to Kyle Simmons - Michael Robinson – RBI Triple scored Kyle - Ian Mayers sealed the victory with a base hit to left field.

Final score, Bahamas 10 and Venezuela 0

Quinton Rolle & Chavez Young lead the way with two hits and two RBI each.

The game got started on Saturday evening but was suspended in the bottom of the 3rd with Team Bahamas 1 – Dominican Republic 0

·   When the game resumed on Sunday – Team Bahamas added 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd highlighted by doubles from Yokito Pinder, Kyle Simmons and Michael Robinson which was capped by RBI singles from Quinton Rolle and Justin Sweeting.

·   Team Bahamas packed on more runs with RBI singles from Yokito Pinder , Quinton Rolle & Angelo Watson in the 5th & 6th to give Team Bahamas a 11-2 lead.

·  Maleek Perpall pitched 5 strong innings – In relief, the bullpen struggled for the first time in the championship.  The rains came down with Team Bahamas coming to bat in the bottom of the 6th which made the game official - Final score Team Bahamas 11 – Dominican Republic 6

Coming into this game -  Dominican Republic was dominating the tournament with their power and speed. Team Bahamas pitcher Maleek Perpall pitched a great game listening to his Coaches and kept the Dominican Republic batters confused with a variety of different speeds. Which allowed the Bahamas offensive to do some damage.

The Bahamas offense was lead by Yokito Pinder and Quinton Rolle with 3 RBI and 3 hits each

This Gold Medal game was hampered by  all day rain - 2  Venue Changes  - 2 additional hours driving time to the new locations.

The game was finally played in Yabucoa Professional stadium where periodic showers did not produce long delays.

Game had to be completed as Team Bahamas scheduled flight was on Monday
 

·  Team Bahamas opened the game with a double by Ian Mayers - thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple

·  Puerto Rico 1st Inning begin with a double - Scored 2 runs on a RBI hit and pass ball.

·  Before the start of the 2nd Inning – the game was halted due to rain and moved to another location – Once the game resumed, Team Bahamas started the 2nd and 3rd inning with their lead off runners on base - unable to score runs – stranding  4 runners

·   Ian Mayers pitch 2 solid inning but lost his command with the stopping and restarting of the game.  The bullpen was unable to control Puerto Rico bats even though they faced the same conditions – a key error extended the bottom of the 3rd inning and with 2 outs Puerto Rico added 5 runs.  It was difficult to keep the Team focus after playing 2 games in 24hrs and the stopping and restarting of the game.. Team Bahamas lost the final game 10 – 2.

Ian Mayers - 3 hits ( single, double and a triple in the game) – Quinton Rolle / Donavon Cox 1 Hit each

Team Bahamas success in the PONY Colt Division is becoming well known in the region.

Team Bahamas 06 team members with double figure hits (Ali Knowles (Troy University – 14 Hits – 6 doubles - Javanno Pinder and Marcian Curry had 10 and 9 hits respectively –

2013 Team Bahamas was the best hitting team since the 2006 Team

Team Bahamas pitching in this championship is the best the Bahamas has seen in this age group.
