The Bahamas Olympic Committee announces that
three Bahamian wrestlers from The Bahamas Wrestling Federation have left
The Bahamas to attend a special high level training course at the
United States Olympic Committee’s High LevelTraining Centre in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. The wrestlers are Demitri Jones, Rashji Mackey and
Jason Rolle.
Bahamas
Wrestling Federation President and Bahamas Olympic Committee (BOC)
Assistant Treasurer Clarence Rolle thanked the BOC for its assistance in
securing the scholarships for the wrestlers through the Pan American
Sports Organisation. “These young wrestlers will definitely benefit
from their three weeks in Colorado”, said President Rolle. “They will
be in an atmosphere of excellence and we expect them to contribute what
they’ve learned to others in the Federation when they get back home.”
BOC
Secretary General Romell Knowles noted that “The Bahamas Olympic
Committee insists on taking maximum advantage of any international
opportunities that can be made available to Bahamian athletes”
especially in a sport like wrestling. We are committed to the
development of all sports and invite other national federations to take
advantage of the opportunities we provide on a daily basis for the
benefit of our athletes. I wish to congratulate the Bahamas Wrestling
Federation and its President Clarence Rolle for the job he and his
executives are doing - which is, promoting and developing the sport of
wrestling in the Bahamas.
The
Bahamian wrestlers will train with other elite athletes from around the
world in their sports and are expected to return home during the third
week in April. The wrestlers will put their new skills to the test
immediately, as they are scheduled to compete in the Pan Am Wrestling
Championships in Santiago, Chile at the end of April.
