Best of the Best Regatta 2016 Awards Ceremony

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- International and local sailors took up the challenge of four days of competitive sailing at Montagu Bay in the Best of the Best Regatta, December 1-4, 2016.  Pictured are local sailors presented with their trophies in the final Award Ceremony, December 4. 

Governor General Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling presented awards to Class A champions, the crew of Tida Wave; Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie presented awards to the Class B champions, the crew of Susan Chase; and Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources the Hon. Alfred Gray presented awards to Class C champions, the crew of Whitty K. 

Best of the Best Regatta 2016 was hosted by Star Sailors League and the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources.  BTC provided sponsorship.  The event provided the opportunity for Star Sailors League, top sailors from around the world, to enjoy sailing Bahamian waters. 

Sunday's competition was fierce to the end, leaving some of its competitors defined as ‘sailors’ and some defined as ‘swimmers.’

The results were:

Winners of the Minister’s Cup in C Class race were "Aliv" in third place, "Sacrifice" in second place, and "Whitty K" in first place.

Winners of the Prime Minister's Cup in B Class were: "Queen Drucilla" in third place, "Ants Nest" in second place, and the "Susan Chase" in first place.

Winners of the Governor General's Cup in A Class were “Courageous" in third place, "Lady Muriel" in second place, and "Tida Wave” in first place.
