FRIDAY JULY 18th: Boats Arrive into Freeport 11:00am – 3:00pm (GBSC)Jr. Sailing (GBSC)Jr. Sailing Grand Bahama Sailing Club will host Summer Campers at Regatta. • Races will be coordinated by Grand Bahama Sailing Club • GBSC Summer Camp Instructors will be responsible to campers • Grand Bahama Regatta will have T-Shirts, booklet & pre-sales for Party Boat • D.J. will be set up for announcements • Games: Dominoes • Food vendors available 4:30pm – 5:30pm 1st Class Race • Race will be coordinated by Stafford Armbrtister, Joel Greene, Christopher Wallace 6:00pm – 7:30pm Skipper’s Party, Outriggers, Smith’s Point • This will be coordinated by Chairman and Treasurer
• Sailors will be wrist banded for accountability
8:00pm – 8:45pm Opening Ceremony, Outrigger, Smith’s Point • Opening will be private 8:00pm – until Showtime on Taino Beach • Bahamas Dance Theatre singing selection (30 mins) • Wilfred Solomon & Band – 9:00pm to 10:00pm (estimated) • Stileet 10:30 – until • D.J. will perform in between acts Bahamian Culture music

10:00am – 11:30am 1st Class Race
• Grand Bahama Regatta will have T-Shirt, & Ticket booth for Party Boat • Day host provided & (DJ) on shore activities 12:00pm – 1:30pm Instructors Laser Race • Sailing race will be done by Instructors from Grand Bahama Sailing Club
2:00pm – 4:00pm 2nd Class Race • Race will be coordinated by Stafford Armbrtister, Joel Greene, Christopher Wallace
• Grand Bahama Regatta will have T-Shirt, & Ticket booth for Party Boat • Day host provided & (DJ) on shore activities 5:00pm – 6:00pm ‘Sculling’ Competition • Competition will be conducted by Bahamian Brewery 8:00pm – 9:30pm Awards Presentation & Closing Ceremony, Taino Beach Park 9:32pm – 10:00pm Junkanoo Rush Out 10:30pm – until SHOWTIME

• Hoopla The history of Bahamas regattas dates back to 1954 when a group of Bahamian and American yachtsmen held an event in Elizabeth Harbour which brought sailors together in one place for sport. The three day event was so successful that they decided to continue it and the Out Island Squadron was born. This group of Americans and Bahamians continued the regatta in George Town thereafter until 1967. It was in 1973 that the regatta was held in Nassau as a part of the Independence Celebrations. Today annual Bahamian regattas are held throughout the archipelago. Grand Bahama held its first regatta in 1992 and it was introduced as a constituency event.
