CANOC convened its 12 General Assembly on Friday 17 October at the Hilton Hotel in Barbados. The report of the Executive was readily delivered by the outgoing Secretary General, Mr Elton Prescott, while Messrs Angel Morales and Keith Joseph delivered the report of the CANOC Education and Training Commission (CEATC) which highlighted the successful conduct of two courses organised by the CEATC and sponsored by Commonwealth Games Canada and six sponsored by the Organising Committee of the Pan American Games of 2015 (TO2015).

The General Assembly also received updates on TO2015, Rio2016, the Bid Committees for the Commonwealth Games 2022 from Durban, South Africa and Edmonton, Canada. Updates were also received from the Caribbean Regional Anti Doping Organisation (RADO) presented by Mrs Chaderton-Shaw and Mr Jose Quinones of Peru’s LIMA2019, hosts of the Pan American Games of 2019.

One of the most significant moments of the Assembly was the official signing of an Agreement between CANOC and LIMA2019 in respect of the latter’s sponsorship of 16 workshops identified, planned and executed by CANOC through to 2019.

The elections of officers for the next four-year term yielded a new Executive:

Mr Steve Stoute – President

Mr Keith Joseph – Secretary General

Mr Alfred Emmanuel – Treasurer

Mr Brian Lewis

Mr Angel Morales

Mr Alphonso Bridgewater

Mr Donald McLean

Re-elected President, Steve Stoute of Barbados, expressed gratitude to all members of the confidence shown in the new executive and noted that there was much work to be done to take the organisation to the next level in terms of its rightful place within the International Olympic Movement.

Participants were of one accord in extending their appreciation to Mr Elton Prescott for his outstanding service to CANOC since its inception.
