NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Celebrating the aspirations and
accomplishments of our youth encourages them to pursue their dreams. One
woman says her company, Forward Management, is responsible for finding
sponsorships to keep the junior program for Bahamian CARIFTA Athletes,
sustainable.
“Today we had a wonderful float parade. The parade is
really to celebrate our youth and also to celebrate all of the participants
that are taking part in this year’s Bahamas 2015 Relays here
tomorrow and
Saturday,”
said Ms. Fernerin Hanna, Independent Contractor and Coordinator of the ‘Friends
2015 Junior Program’.
“We want everybody to have a good time. They are going
into a tough competition
tomorrow, the Bahamas High School Relays, and the
tryouts are
on Friday and
Saturday. Those tryouts will determine who will
be the All-Stars for the junior program, running with the big guns for May 2nd
and 3rd.”
Sponsorship programs help young athletes like Ninth Grader
Tyler Gray, who attended the rally representing St. Anne’s School in Fox Hill
and said she is serious about track & field training, which she hopes will
lead to a college scholarship, to study Psychology or Fashion Design.
“Today
was a Pep Rally and Motorcade to get us ready for
tomorrow. I’m
participating in the 4x2 and the 4x4. I’ll be running first leg and I
plan to bring my team to first place. I trained for two years with my
track club Development, Technique, Speed & Power (DTSP) Wolf pack. I
just want to say, ‘Go St. Anne’s,” said Miss Gray.
