Call for Bahamian applicants: TO2015 Young Reporters Program

The TO2015 Young Reporters Program is a sport management and journalism training program has put out a call for applicants from countries and territories of the Americas. The program is part of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games.

The program will run from July 9 to 20, 2015, with young reporters arriving in Toronto on July 8 and departing on July 21. Pre-Games training and assignments will begin in April 2015.

Forty-one young reporters will be selected (up to one from each of the 41 participating countries and territories of the Americas).

Candidates will be between the ages of 20 and 25 (by June 30, 2015); will be able to read write and speak fluent Engligh; will be enrolled in sport management or journalism programs (university, college or technical schools); or young professionals already working full-time in the sport or news media industry.

Romell Knowles, Secretary General, Bahamas Olympic Committee advises that an invite is extended for media houses of The Bahamas to submit potential candidates by December 30th, 2014.

Interested candidates must contact their National Olympic Committees (NOCs) for information prior to submitting their applications via email to TO2015. Email for The Bahamas: secretarygeneralboc@ coralwave.com

TO2015 will review applications and submit a short list of candidates to NOCs for final approval. NOCs will select one finalist and submit to TO2015.

Chosen candidates will be provided with an economy-class return airline ticket, dormitory-style accommodation for the duration of the program, three meals per day for the duration of the program, access to public transportation and any costs associated with workshops and training. Young reporters will be responsible for all other expenses (including personal expenses and incidentals) incurred during the program.

Program participants will stay together in dormitory-style housing at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto.

Experienced journalists, sport management and Games professionals will act as mentors.

Training and coursework will be delivered in English.

Bahamas Deadline to submit to Bahamas Olympic Committee: Wednesday, December 31st.

Friday, January 9, 2015: Application deadline  

Monday, February 2, 2015: NOCs sent shortlist of finalists

Monday, February 18, 2015: Each participating NOC submits name of top candidate to TO2015

Monday, February 23, 2015: Finalists contacted and invited to join the TO2015 Young Reporters Program
