Celebration Event for 2016 Bahamas Olympic Team Members 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 @ Melia Nassau Beach Hotel

Nassau, Bahamas - Plans are moving quickly for next Sunday’s welcome home celebration for the entire Bahamas Olympic Team being organized by Tommy Stubbs and his crew at Buttons Formal Wear.

The celebration will be held inside the beautiful ballroom at Melia Nassau Beach Hotel where the largest gathering of Bahamian Olympian athletes, coaches and delegates will take place at 3p.m. THIS Sunday, September 18, 2016.

The Bahamas Olympic team members recently captured two medals at the Rio Games highlighted by Shaunae Miller’s amazing dive to win the gold medal in the women’s 400 meters and Chris “Fireman” Brown’s inspired-sprint to the finish line to help the Bahamas bring home the bronze medal in the men’s 4x400m relay. Shaunae and all members of the men’s relay teams have confirmed their attendance with the organizers.

And, for the first time in Bahamian Olympic history, we had finalists in the women’s 100-meter Hurdles by Pedrya Seymour as well as a Bahamian athlete in women’s rowing in Emily Morley, both of whom will be present at the event with their family members.

Ninety (90) per cent of the 2016 Bahamas Olympic contingent have confirmed their attendance with their relatives, including swimming sensation Arianna-Vanderpool Wallace, and track & field’s triple jumper Leevan “Super-man” Sands, high jumpers Donald Thomas and Trevor Barry and quarter mile record holder Steven Gardiner.

The MCs for this event are Mr. Kyle Walkine, an anchorman at Cable Bahamas’ Our TV and Mrs. Nikia Christie of the Ministry of Tourism Today TV programme and a former Olympian swimmer, herself.

Last week Tuesday the Bahamas Olympic Committee and sports director Tim Munnings of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture officially announced that Tommy Stubbs and Buttons Formal Wear have been given with the task of Team Bahamas Celebrations.

Buttons Formal Wear is well recognized for its track record in hosting outstanding productions, including the annual Bahamas Bridal Show since 1990 and two segments of the recent Pain & Glory professional boxing events.

Everyone’s invited to come and re-live the excitement of the Rio Games on Bahamian soil at this spectacular gathering that is expected to attract the Who’s Who in the local business and sports communities. Event passes available at Buttons Formal Wear in the Cable Beach Shopping Center.
