FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - Now that Nassau’s successful Potcakeman triathlon earlier in September has gotten everyone’s feet wet athletes and multi-sport enthusiasts are looking forward to the annual Conchman triathlon on November 7th at Taino Beach.

In its 29th year the Conchman has long been a fixture on the calendars of both local and international athletes. Past winners have come from many of the Bahamian islands, the US, Canada and the UK to name a few. The course is superb, the hospitality friendly and the vibe – decidedly laid back.

Laid back that is until the starting gun goes off. Competition among the challengers for podium positions is always fierce on both the men’s and women’s sides. Rumour has it that past winners Simon Lowe out of Nassau and Stefan Larsen, all the way from California, may go head-to-head this year. Grand Bahama’s Romeo Seymour wants a piece of the winners’ podium as well. Will record times be set on the 1K swim, 25K bike and 5K run course come November 7th?

While the website is still being updated, registration is now open. Visit www.Conchman.com, go to the registration tab and fill in the online form. Cash payment will be made in person at packet pick-up. Conchman fees are among the lowest you’ll find anywhere but advance registration is a must! Register today.

Following the adults triathlon the Iron Kids race takes place. On more than one occasion the number of Iron Kids has exceeded the number of Conchmen and women. The kids love the race and one wonders how many future Olympians are lurking behind that youthful enthusiasm.

Visit www.Conchman.com for course information. Packet pick-up and post-race festivities will be announced shortly. In addition, Facebook users can visit the page at www.facebook.com/conchmantriathlon.
