On June 25th,2013 Harold Williams, founder of The Grand Bahama Sports Hall of Fame and David Mackey of TheBahamasWeekly recorded an interview with Errol Bodie for GBSHF 2013 at Mackey Media. Upon the completion of that interview David Mackey snapped this photo of Mr. Bodie.
The Committee for the Grand Bahama Sports Hall of Fame and the City of Freeport Council is saddened by the passing of Sports Icon Coach Errol Bodie.

Coach Bodie who was inducted into the Grand Bahama Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 has made huge contribution to Track & Field in the Bahamas and was a legendary coach for the former Hawksbill High School Senior Boys who under his leadership captured multiple High School national championships.

Coach Bodie has developed and mentor young people in sports for over 4 decades some of which includes hall of famers like Derek ‘Bookie’ Nesbit, Dudley Parker, Rickey Moxey, Ricardo Lightbourne, Audrick Lightbourne and the late Nicole Johnson-Hepburn. Other notable athletes who have left memorable moments for sports fans are the likes of Christine Barr, Beryl Allen the late Angelo Capron, Wayne Smith, Derek Cummings, Elma Smith, Dave Charlton and the late Jerry ‘Super J’ Johnson.

Before his passing, Coach Bodie was very much instrumental in the decision of selecting the recent Legends 2013 Inductees Sports Hall of Fame and although he was ill, he never complained and never missed any opportunity to lend his voice and wise counsel.

We wish to extend condolence to his wife Cecile his children, Clifford and Mia, our deepest sympathy during their time of bereavement.

May his soul Rest in Peace,

Harold Williams
Chairman

We at TheBahamasWeekly.com and Mackey Media Ltd also send our heartfelt condolences to the family Errol Bodie, a mild mannered but inspirational giant whose contribution to sports in The Bahamas and in particular Grand Bahama Island will always be remembered.
