Miami, Florida - Following an exciting season in the Digicel Shark Football League, football fans will be treated to a double header on April 3, 2011 when the finals kick off at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.

The Seventeen and Dynamos Football Clubs   will battle in the third place playoff beginning at 4:30 p.m., while Etoil Football Club and Rest de Monde face off for the championship trophy at 6:30 p.m.

Sponsored by Digicel since October 2010, the Shark Football League features 12 teams comprised predominantly of Haitian nationals living in the Bahamas.

Mauricio Fernandez, Digicel’s Senior Sponsorship Manager, explains that football has taken on even greater meaning to the Haitian players and fans because it “was a way for them to bond after the 2010 earthquake and now promotes a sense of pride in and togetherness with family and friends back home.”

He added: “Digicel is always looking for fun ways to connect with customers in the Diaspora and football, loved by so many in the Caribbean, has been a great way to do this. We have contributed significantly to football development in our markets, sponsoring more than a dozen national teams and leagues, including the major Digicel Caribbean Championships.”

Attendees on game day will be able to compete for great prizes through a number of promotions. These include the offer of a free US$3 Digicel Top-Up for every US$5 ticket purchased that day and a US $10 Digicel Top-Up offer that will give each person a chance to win a Digicel mobile phone pouch. Fans who purchase this US$10 Top Up card will also receive an entry form to register for a chance to participate in the ‘Kick 4 Digicel FIFA Merchandise’, an on-field half-time activity during the third place match. Three persons will be randomly selected to compete and the winner will receive one Digicel FIFA jersey and football.

As for half-time during the championship match, supporters will have a chance to win US$100 Top-Up voucher and Digicel FIFA merchandise when the gate prize raffle is drawn.

Digicel Top-Up will also be available for purchase at the event so those living in the Bahamas can stay connected with loved ones.

Digicel offers an innovative range of products and services to Caribbean and Central American nationals living in the Diaspora. These include online top-up where customers can log on to any Digicel website and top-up or send minutes to people back home, and retail top-up, where customers can go into any one of over 160,000 retail stores in Canada, the Caribbean, the United States or the United Kingdom and purchase Digicel top-up or send Digicel minutes to friends and relatives in their home country.
