FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup kicks off in The Bahamas

Nassau, New Providence - Sixteen visiting teams are competing in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 in Nassau at the National Beach Soccer Arena at Malcolm Park in the biggest beach soccer event on the planet. April 27th opening games started with Iran taking Mexico 3 - 2; Senegal trounced Ecuador 9 - 0; Italy over Nigeria 12 - 6; and host team, Bahamas was defeated in a close match with Switzerland 3 - 2.

Beach soccer is an exciting fast action game played on a sand rectangle field approximately 40 by 30 yards. Instead of 2 halves, there are 3 twelve-minute periods; there are unlimited substitutions; no offside calls; and no draws / ties allowed. More rules on the game HERE.

Competition continues today at 3:30 p.m. at the National Beach Soccer Arena at Malcolm Park. Shuttles are running from various locations. Entrance is free to the public.  The tournament runs from April 27 to May 7.

Day two lineup in order of play: Japan vs. Poland; Portugal vs. Panama; Brazil vs Tahiti; and UAE vs Paraguay.
