Nassau, Bahamas - The Frank Rutherford Foundation will conduct its annual  'Mega Malt Frank Rutherford National Youth Combine '. In conjunction with the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture Friday- Saturday, August 8 and 9, 2014.

Young Bahamians between the age of 10-17 who have wanted to be introduced to a sport, or those who have been playing a sport but want to find what the true sport they need to be playing to give them a college scholarship offer, will have a chance to be evaluated.

The combine is a recruiting and exposure opportunity for both federations and young athletes/parents who have an unusually big child that is very young that needs to be involved in sports. The combine will put the young athletes through a series of athletic drills that are commonly used in the NFL and NBA combines. The basic measurement of speed, agility, and strength, along with height and weight will be taken.

The Frank Rutherford Foundation will also be keeping a database of all athletes in order to steer them and make recommendations to parents as to what league sport to get their kids involved in.  Likewise, the foundation will make direct connections between sports associations and federations and talent discovered in the combine.

There are a number of universities and private high schools in the United States that have scholarship opportunities available to young Bahamians to further their education. This combine will act as an exposure for these scholarship opportunities.

The Mega Malt Frank Rutherford National Youth Combine is a ground floor introduction for young Bahamians to sports.

"We are looking for every kid that wants to play American football, basketball, track and field, or any sport," said Rutherford.

The Frank Rutherford Foundation has developed countless young Bahamians from scratch to college student athletes, who all have received their college degrees and moved on to becoming professionals in the workplace or garnered success in the professional sports leagues.

The combine runs on August 8-9 from 10am - 5pm on Goodman's Bay.
