GBAAA New Executive Announced

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - A New executive team has been elected to the Grand Bahama Amateur Athletic Association (GBAAA), and Iram Lewis will be at the helm as president. 

The executive is as follows:

President - Iram Lewis
Immediate Past President - Kem Stuart
1st Vice President - Emmitt Higgins
Secretary General - Dionne Britton
Assistant Secretary General - Sandra Laing
Public Relations - Shakeitha Hendfield
Treasurer - Anton Bowleg
Assistant Treasurer - Ravano Ferguson

Council Members:

Anita Dougherty
Marge Morrison
Kelley Albury
James Vega
Eula White

Prior to the elections, Tonique Williams-Darling wrote the following message on social media, "GBAAA to Elect a New President

Tonight the Grand Bahama Amateur Athletic Association (GBAAA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and in the margins of the meeting select a team of officers to manage the affairs of the Association.

Olympian Iram Lewis and current Vice President of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) is a candidate for the GBAAA President and from all accounts Mr. Lewis appears to be the candidate of choice.

While United Purpose is expecting a fluid and transparent GBAAA election, it is our hope that all candidates, irrespective of the election outcome, would continue to support the objectives of the Association.

All the best to Mr. Iram Lewis and the other candidates for a successful election and their future endeavors for moving track and field in Grand Bahama forward.

On finding out the outcome of the election, United Purpose wrote the following message:

United Purpose would like to extend to Iram Lewis sincere congratulations on winning the GBAAA presidency. We believe that he is the best person to revitalize and transform this association. Our sport need persons of integrity, transparency and accountability like Iram at its helm.

We wish him and his team an extremely successful tenure. Well done.
