Bahamas Steve Gardiner won the IAAF Diamond League men's 400m on Friday, May 5th in Qatar at the Doha 2017 meet.
With a time of 44.60 seconds, he had USA's LaShawn Merritt both
close behind with world champion Merritt with a time of 44.76 and Tony McQuay
with 44.92. Both Americans performing a season's best.
“It was really hard, but I expected to win,” said Gardiner in a brief interview as he collected $50,000 and eight points for his efforts.
Donald Thomas also competed in the event and placed third in the men’s high jump with a season’s best of 2.29 metres, earning him 7 points and $10,000.
Next in the IAAF Diamond Series is the Shanghai Diamond League o May 13th in China.
