Minister Bannister said:
"On behalf of the Rt. Honourable Prime Minister, Hubert A. Ingraham,
M.P., and as the Minister of Youth Sports and Culture , I am extremely
pleased to bring these short remarks to commence the historical
moments of this evening’s occasion, designed to convey in some small
but appropriate way, the admiration and respect of the government and
people of The Bahamas for the great men and women of yesteryear who
were so largely responsible for creating the framework by which this
noble country has been able to become a world power in sports.
"I also take equal pleasure in expressing the affection of the
government and people of The Bahamas for the Members of Team Bahamas
that so ably represented The Bahamas at the recent World Outdoor Track
and Field Championships in Berlin, Germany."
