Jay Gotlieb represents The Bahamas in the Maccabiah Games

Nassau, Bahamas - Bahamian athlete, Jay Gotlieb recently participated in the Maccabiah Games this summer which is an international Jewish athletic event held in Israel.  He was the sole representative from the Bahamas. Jay played tennis in the Masters Division.

The Maccabiah Games are an IOC (International Olympic Committee) sanctioned event held every four years in Israel with European South America and Australia events held on the 2 year middle period as well.

Similar to an Olympic event, it has numerous sports from cricket to soccer to basketball, swimming, track and field, etc.  For tennis they have a Junior Open and Masters Divisions,  and over 75 countries were represented with approximately 9000 athletes overall.

The opening ceremonies were broadcast on TV and the Internet (worldwide) and seen in this video clip (posted on Youtube) is Jay Gotlieb (Bahamas) walking with the flag into the stadium. Jay said he was also interviewed on the track.
