Jr. Davis Cup and Jr. Fed Cup National Teams off to El Salvador

Nassau, Bahamas - Jr. Davis Cup and Jr. Fed Cup Teams departed Nassau for San Salvador, El Salvador on Saturday past to participate in the Pre-Qualifying Jr. Davis Cup & Jr. Fed Cup event for the North/Central American & Caribbean regions. Participating nations are: Bahamas, Barbados, Nicaragua, Aruba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Jamaica, Guatemala, Grenada, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago, El Salvador, Curacao, Costa Rica, Guyana, and U. S. Virgin Islands

Some 18 countries are participating in the Jr. Davis Cup event and 15 for the Jr. Fed Cup event. The 2017 Jr. Davis Cup team is led by Donte Armbrister, 15 with teammates Kofi Denali 13, and Denali Nottage, 13 both from Freeport, Grand Bahama. Our Boys' Team is seeded No. 5 in the tournament. National Coach for the boys is Mr.Ricardo Demeritte. The Jr. Fed Cup Team is led by Sydney Clarke, 15 with teammates,Elana Mackey, 13 and Sydni Kerr, 15. Our Girls' Team is seeded No. 3 in the tournament. National Coach for the girls is Mr. Bradley Bain.

The Tournament began earlier this morning. Day One, the boys won against Nicaragua 2-1 while the girls fell short with a 0-3 lost against El Salvador.

The BLTA wishes both teams well. The Teams return home April 2.
