Knowles and Woodside racked up gold and silver medals at California Karate Tournament

Senior students of the New Providence Martial Arts Centre, Shirley Street East, William Knowles, 16 and Nathaniel Woodside, 13 participated in the 48th Annual JKR Gasshuku Training Seminars and International Tournament, in Anaheim, California, April 30 – May 4, 2015.

The highlight of the event was the advanced training seminars with JKR instructors out of Japan. The students were also exposed to training with other JKR students from around the world. Knowles finished with a silver medals in Kata and Kumite. Woodside, a gold medal in Kumite and a bronze medal in Kata. Knowles, a 10th grade student of St John’s College and Woodside, a 7th grade student of St Augustine’s College, were accompanied by Sensei Chinyere T. A. Ijeoma, P.E. and Chief Instructor Japan Karate-do Ryobu Kai Bahamas.
