The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is hosting its 15th Edition of the International Tennis Federation(ITF) Junkanoo Bowl.  The tournament features top junior players in the under 18 and the U14 categories  from  more than 20 countries including Japan, South Africa, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria and the  USA. The highest ranked  player is seeded 128 in juniors in the  world.  On Saturday and Sunday there were two days of qualifying rounds and now the competition heats up as Main Draw action begins tomorrow!

The Opening Ceremony was held on Sunday, July 3rd with a good attendance by our international guests some visiting The Bahamas for the first time.   This sport is definitely offering avenues of growth in the area of Sports Tourism and this is indeed commendable. In attendance was Mr. Wellington Miller, the President of The Bahamas Olympic Committee.  During the ceremony a special presentation was made to The Tournament Supervisor, Mr. Mickey Williams and his assistant Mr. George Baxter for the many years of invaluable service rendered to the tournament and to The Bahamas.
