Nassau, Bahamas - Monday night delivered yet another golden and memorable moment in Bahamian history as our track and field sensation, Shaunae Miller, won gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio in the women's 400 meters.

Miller's victorious DIVE demonstrated the true Bahamian spirit of unmatched determination.  She is to be commended for her years of hard work, training, and commitment to excellence.  Her performance transcends all national divides and offers great cause for a collective celebration.

On behalf of the Official Opposition, the Free National Movement, I take this opportunity to congratulate Shaunae on her fast and fantastic run.  She is our latest Golden Queen.  Congratulations go out to the entire Team Bahamas representing our nation in Brazil.  We remain confident that more medals lie ahead at these games.

Shaunae Miller has provided yet another proud moment for The Bahamas on the world stage.  May God continue to strengthen our athletes and bless our beloved country.
