James ‘Jimmy’ Sands, CEO of Bahamian Brewery, a keen golfer himself expressed his pleasure in assisting the BG. “Glen and the board know we want to help them promote the sport of golf in The Bahamas and give players an opportunity to compete in stroke play events.” Sands added “We know that this will assist the BGF in selecting the best golfers to represent The Bahamas in local and international events.”

During the signing held at the Nassau Street distribution centre, the CEO also advised that the Brewery has committed to make this an annual event and is in the process of designing a special Floating Trophy for the winner of the Cup.

The first event in the Sands Beer Cup series is be the Grand Bahama Open in Freeport, which was held at the Reef and Ruby courses March 4th and 5th. Other tournaments will be held in Nassau at Lyford Cay, Ocean Club and possibly Bahamar. The final event will be at Albany in October when the winner will be selected.
