Nassau, Bahamas  - Sunshine Insurance Race Weekend (Marathon, Half Marathon and 4 – Person Relay) returns for the third year. With the second running of the Susan G. Komen Bahamas Race for the Cure® 5K, on Paradise Island on January 14th, the weekend will draw thousands of participants to the Island destination during the Martin Luther King Holiday period.

Online registration ends on January 10th, but people can register in person at the Health & Fitness Expo planned for January 14th at the British Colonial Hilton from 3 - 7pm.

According to today's Nassau Guardian report, "to date, a total of 223 international participants have been confirmed for the races to be held in New Providence." An anticipated 1000 participants are expected in overall events.

The marathon race course was designed to showcase the diversity of this popular tourism destination including many of the historical buildings of downtown, highlight the splendor of Paradise Island, the beauty and charm of Cable Beach and transverse along the ocean to a dramatic ocean front finish at Arawak Cay.


The 5K starts at Church Street (below the western Paradise Island bridge) and finishes at world-famous Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.
