The winds of regional integration are blowing among the Caribbean nations. The idea of greater regional integration in the Caribbean is a topic that has been gaining more attention in the news and at the political level within the Caribbean region. In line with this, there has been renewed interest in the creation of a Pan-Caribbean Soccer League. This year not one Caribbean nation will be representing the region in the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ ( Read more ), a fact that has caused consternation among many in the region.

The Caribbean Football Trust Limited (CFTL) , a Barbados registered company with offices in Orlando, Florida and Toronto, Canada, is currently working to remedy this situation for future tournaments by establishing a new professional soccer league that will span the entire Caribbean region. As such, the CFTL is collaborating with Concorde Sports Agency in the creation of a Pan-Caribbean Soccer League. The new league will be called "Major League Futbol" and is slated to kick off in September, 2015.

There are several advantages to this league, namely most ticket sales will be in U.S. Dollars, a reduced organizational tax burden due to the reduced tax structure of Caribbean nations, an already existing banking network, and a broadcast market spanning 3 continents and several countries (USA, UK, France, Canada, Netherlands, Central America, South America and the entire Caribbean). The CFTL also seeks to attract new companies to the Caribbean market from France (namely Canal+ and Trace TV), and Africa (SuperSport of South Africa), that have already been extremely successful at targeting a similar demographic.

The CFTL has scheduled an informational meeting on the Major League Futbol concept, which has been strategically timed to coincide with the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. A key point of the CFTL informational meeting will be the need for regional integration in professional sports. The entire Caribbean region has a population of about 40 Million people. This population, with a shared heritage and culture, is sufficiently robust to support closer trade and commerce within the region. Specifically, the CFTL believes that the region is ready to support professional soccer teams.

The CFTL would like to invite interested persons to an informational meeting at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014. The meeting will take place at 10AM at the Jostens Center, which is part of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Please register for the meeting at www.concordesportsagency.com/pan-caribbean-soccer-league ... Attendance is limited.
