It has been announced that Atlanta-based fast food giant Popeyes will be the official sponsor of The Bahamas Bowl.

The game will be played on December 24th in Nassau at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium.

It will feature teams from Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference.“Popeyes is honored to partner with the Bahamas Bowl to bring this historic bowl game to college football fans everywhere,” Hector Munoz, Vice President of Marketing for Popeyes, said in a press release.

“Like college football, Popeyes enjoys a rich tradition and passionate fans, and we look forward to a great game and a lot of fun in The Bahamas.”

According to the release, “The Popeyes Bahamas Bowl will be the first bowl game played outside the United States since the 2010 International Bowl in Toronto.”

Lea Miller, Executive Director of the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl, said the bowl is excited to have Popeyes be the sponsor of the inaugural event.

“We appreciate the tremendous support of Popeyes for the Bahamas Bowl, and we look forward to a great event in The Bahamas.”

Bahamas Bowl follows the HBCUX Classic Game, which will be held on September 12-14 at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium.

In that event, Central State University (CSU) and the Texas Southern University (TSU)-two historically black colleges- will square off in the first college football game ever held in The Bahamas.
